One down and four to go...

I like to try and put things into perspective to stop the panic rising. Today that meant remembering that although I had 7 hours to complete my 2000 word assignment, that I only have a total of 5 to complete which doesn't sound so bad. Now that first assignment is over and I feel sooo much better. I decided to start this blog in the hope that it will get me back into the practice of writing and help to improve my vocab again as I feel I have lost many interesting words into the abyss of constantly being on the move. I do keep a diary but it has no day markers in - more of a journal really but I find that I don't keep up to date with it. As I am on here a lot of the time doing various bits of work I thought it prudent to continue my diary online.

As  previously mentioned, I have a further 4 assignments due, one of them for Friday. A creative writing piece which I seem to be hopeless at. Another reason for the blog. I have a busy few weeks Uni wise and very few pennies but of course my friends and loved ones have chosen this weekend for all their functions it seems. A maternity leave leaving do, 21st birthday and retirement do on Friday, the football, scrapping, another birthday and an evening having dinner cooked for me and taken to the cinema on Saturday, a car boot to do (as I said, I have very few pennies) and a rehearsal to go to on Sunday. Hmmm, somehow I don't think I'll fit it all in, never mind being able to afford them all.

As for the last few weeks, they have been just as busy. Last Friday I went for tea with my sister and her beau and stopped over - a great night at the Ghurka which offers a buffet style meal and a variety of cuisine. Saturday we went to a friends to watch football and have a meal cooked for us. Thank you Chris, the food was excellent. I would never have guessed you were such a good cook and the Just Dance, Just Dance 2 and Michael Jackson on the Wii really helped me to work it all off. The week before on the Thursday we were fortunate enough to acquire tickets to the opening of a new restaurant - Buddiez American Diner - that's what the picture is of. The food was excellent and the guys wmho own it are brilliant - really friendly. We have been in since and I ended up having a Charlie Brown Burger (they have 50 different types of burger), a cheese burger with peanut butter. Most people find that disgusting but actually is it gorgeous. People eat sweet and savoury together all the time. Yummy.

Well, I think it is time for me to get some reading done and see if I can find some inspiration for my creative writing, oh and get some tea. TTFN

Message in a bundance

Thanks Rihanna for the wonderful message you are sending to chidren and young people. "'Cause I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it Sticks and stones may break my bones But chains and whips excite me " Lyrics to her new song S&M. I don't consider myself to be a prude by any stretch of the imagination and I also think that sometimes health and safety measures that are put in place can be considered overkill but we have ratings on films and games but allow people to watch soft porn in the form of music videos without any complaints. Today at 3.30pm (just in time for the school run) our local radio station were playing this song. And we wonder why our young girls are anorexic, getting themselves pregnant or at the very least being treated for STIs.  Common sense people please. Of course while there is money in it it is very unlikely to change. High street stores have picked up on the clothin...

Mad woman in the attic or angel in the house?

Today I have definitely been the mad woman in the attic in more ways than one. A bird managed to find its way in there and was flitting about. It must have been terrified. A long pole, a large blanket, a large scrunched up piece of paper and some very scary moments and the bird is now safely outside and will not be getting back in. Poor thing. This is me trying to write my next assignment based on the Romantic poets, nature and theories of the sublime. On top of that, I have another in a couple of weeks on Victorian writing. Trying to read while you have a bird flying about above you is not easy let me tell you. I find much of English literature to be contradictory. Romanticism for example is said to be linked with nature and childhood and that overwhelming sense of magnitude. What are we basing this on? A selection of poems from a group of poets handpicked by those in power. Has anyone thought to look elsewhere? I'm sure they have but I am unable to find much evidence of this. ...

Remember to always have fun....

...but never at the expense of others. Variety is the spice of life they say so celebrate your differences as things that make you stand out from the crowd in a positive way and remember if we were all the same life would be very boring indeed. Never allow anyone to dictate what you do, they will not have to deal with the consequences. These last few weeks have been real eye openers for me. At the risk of sounding repetitive, I really think we should all take the time to remember that everyone has issues of one kind or another and in this stress filled world we live in with time and financial constraints not even taking into account illness or anything else of seriousness, we should do each other the honour of being as understanding as we can to one another. I have spent my school placement this year at a Catholic college and although I do not consider myself to be a true believer, the ethos at the college is something that I definitely subscribe to. It is a place where young p...
