Mad woman in the attic or angel in the house?

Today I have definitely been the mad woman in the attic in more ways than one. A bird managed to find its way in there and was flitting about. It must have been terrified. A long pole, a large blanket, a large scrunched up piece of paper and some very scary moments and the bird is now safely outside and will not be getting back in. Poor thing.

This is me trying to write my next assignment based on the Romantic poets, nature and theories of the sublime. On top of that, I have another in a couple of weeks on Victorian writing. Trying to read while you have a bird flying about above you is not easy let me tell you. I find much of English literature to be contradictory. Romanticism for example is said to be linked with nature and childhood and that overwhelming sense of magnitude. What are we basing this on? A selection of poems from a group of poets handpicked by those in power. Has anyone thought to look elsewhere? I'm sure they have but I am unable to find much evidence of this. Oh well. I guess I will have to conform to the norm as I only have a few days to complete my assignment rather than a few months or years.

I came across an excellent FB site today. Knittaz with Attitude. I wish my knitting skills were up to scratch. I think this is awesome. Especially the knitted bus cover. I have neglected my crafty side of late and am looking forward to a catch up with my crafty pal Claireliz. The only time I ever complete any work is when I am visiting her. If you have a crafty bone in your body I would strongly recommend a visit to her blog. I have never met anyone with a passion for crafting like hers. She will try anything. I would love too but never feel I have the time although hopefully this will change in the future. There's something quite therapeutic about crafting.

Anyway, all of this is just an excuse not to continue reading about philosophy relating to nature and the sublime so I had better go and finish off. Farewell peeps.

Message in a bundance

Thanks Rihanna for the wonderful message you are sending to chidren and young people. "'Cause I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it Sticks and stones may break my bones But chains and whips excite me " Lyrics to her new song S&M. I don't consider myself to be a prude by any stretch of the imagination and I also think that sometimes health and safety measures that are put in place can be considered overkill but we have ratings on films and games but allow people to watch soft porn in the form of music videos without any complaints. Today at 3.30pm (just in time for the school run) our local radio station were playing this song. And we wonder why our young girls are anorexic, getting themselves pregnant or at the very least being treated for STIs.  Common sense people please. Of course while there is money in it it is very unlikely to change. High street stores have picked up on the clothin...

Remember to always have fun....

...but never at the expense of others. Variety is the spice of life they say so celebrate your differences as things that make you stand out from the crowd in a positive way and remember if we were all the same life would be very boring indeed. Never allow anyone to dictate what you do, they will not have to deal with the consequences. These last few weeks have been real eye openers for me. At the risk of sounding repetitive, I really think we should all take the time to remember that everyone has issues of one kind or another and in this stress filled world we live in with time and financial constraints not even taking into account illness or anything else of seriousness, we should do each other the honour of being as understanding as we can to one another. I have spent my school placement this year at a Catholic college and although I do not consider myself to be a true believer, the ethos at the college is something that I definitely subscribe to. It is a place where young p...
